In the life of wonder and awe...
Sometimes I'm amazed by how much something simple like seeing the Chicago skyline can stop me dead in my tracks for a few minutes.

I forgot to explain with my last post that when i saw Owen a few Fridays ago, he had played (at the audiences request) some good ol' metallica. But he played it on his acoustic guitar, and played it over the actual metallica song on his iPod. It was a total joke, and like for just a second, but still provided good entertainment.

As for what's happened since then... well...

I got a cold - a NASTY one. I had to work through 7 spreads over 16 hours last weekend while sniffling, coughing, and probably disturbing those around me at Argo Tea (more to come on this place later) where I was working - for all of those 16 hours. The GOOD news in all of this is that my spreads were chosen for the magazine. Good times! I wasn't expecting to get chosen, and I also wasn't really that jazzed about it. I guess it's pretty cool, even if it is just a school magazine thing.

I got my drums. I went all the way into the pits of my sisters crawl space (I'm serious - they were ALL the way in the back of a 3' high area in her basement) to get them, pulled them out to play for a short while, then brought them home with me. My friend Dan said that he might turn his new basement into a practice space with a house kit - which I would be fine with, but I don't think that will happen. The itch for me to start up a band, whether I play guitar or drums or whatever, is greater than ever with summer approaching. We'll talk about developments with this later.

I did another cleaning of the house this weekend. It gets cleaner everytime, but I still have to do the floors and such - I have the cleaner thing, I just need to get it out and use it. I went to town on the bathroom with some Comet this weekend. That stuff is just dynamite!

Graduation is just around the corner. For some of you who read this blog, I don't have your email address, so I'll just say it here. On May 12, I'm walking onto a stage at Navy Pier to get an empty book that will eventually house my BFA in Graphic Design. It's at 10:30am and you don't have to come to the ceremony if you don't want. I've been to plenty, and they suck, but if you want - it's an open invite. I'll post more stern instruction as the time approaches.

Wow, I'll officially have no excuse to not be working in my field after then. How pathetic will that be when I don't get a job, eh?

;-)

I think that's it for now everyone... Just wanted to update ya!

LEAVE COMMENTS!!! I need to know that you're still reading this thing!

a drive, a concert, acoustic metallica, and a colorful mustache...
I could only describe my weekend as one of the best in quite a long time. Friday's Owen show was fairly impressive and fun for someone that makes such mellow music, and given the fact that people wouldn't shut up throughout the show.

Saturday I hung out with Amanda and Dan - good times, then drove to Milwaukee with Megan that night. Upon arriving 70 years earlier than the show started, we began our night with some lovely photo-ops in the car, then proceded to the Palamino Club, where we ate and got a "Sneek-A-Peek" sexual fantasy kit for 50 cents in the mens bathroom.

After which, we went to the Cactus Club right behind it to see Maritime, and saw a wonderful performance by Mark Mallman - who is insane. I think I described him to Megan as "That guy from high school that's a complete tool, and yet his performance is awesome, which makes you hate him that much more..." Or something along those lines.

Maritime was pretty good, aside from Greg Brady and his drunken idiot friend dancing like fuckin' idiots in front of us. Megs put him in his place, tho - and the show was probably the best I'd been to in at least a year, if not more.

Thank you, Megan - for a road trip that was much needed and much appreciated. Now for the rest of you, here's the photos (Click for larger versions):

classy - really classy...
Life certainly comes at you fast - and why shouldn't it? unless you're an idiot, you should be able to handle it.

I, for one, got bored in class yesterday, and decided to draw on the dry erase board while the teacher was talking and critiquing everyone's work. She caught me as I was drawing the last little arrow... damn. Here's a sample (click on it, and it will bring you the full thing).

There are a few things to seek out:

1) 80's hair
2) Teenage Pregnancy
3) Trailer
4) Inbred Dog
5) Empty Keg
6) Portopotty
7) Frontyard TV
8) 80's TransAm
9) 80's TransAm Rust
10) Tornado

yes. boredom indeed.

Nothing new to report. School is school, people are stupid, blah blah blah.

I'm going to Owen tonight at Abbey Pub - join me if you like!

xoxo
